e-commerceE-commerce is the industry of buying and selling products or services via electronic systems, mainly the internet. E-commerce is a very broad term that is more than just selling products or services; it is intricately linked together with marketing, design and web-development in general.

However not to make too long of a post we will stick to a short introduction of the different types of e-commerce that exist. If you have particular questions into how pandasites can help you create/develop e-commerce for your particular business please the point person for your contract or write us at: info@pandasites.com.

There are several ways into which one can subdivide e-commerce; we will focus on the following:

Business – to – business (B2B): Consists of e-commerce between two businesses, this is the largest segment of e-commerce with over 60% of all e-commerce being of this type. Examples of this can be seen by observing wholesalers selling to smaller retailer businesses or in companies that manufacture electronic components selling to Nintendo or Samsung.

Business – to – consumer (B2C): This type of commerce is between retailers selling to the individual consumers, people who will use the product itself. Examples of this is BestBuy or  restaurants.

Business – to – government (B2G): This is generally defined as commerce between businesses and the government (public) sector. Mainly referring to the use of the internet for purchases of licenses, paying taxes, selling of services, or other government related operations. As previously stated examples of this can be seen in businesses paying their taxes.

Consumer – to – consumer (C2C): This type of e-commerce is between two individuals selling their own individual property. Examples can be seen in people selling their books on eBay or selling some other merchandise using services like craigslist.

Mobile commerce (m-commerce): Is not so much another type of e-commerce rather than a method of selling products. It basically consists of using mobile devices (phones, tablets, etc.) for the purpose of selling products or services. Examples of this are more and more frequent in mobile ticketing for planes or trains, mobile banking, etc.

Any business that operates in this day and age can benefit greatly by using e-commerce. It can reduce time spent on accounting and tracking expenses or collecting dues. If you haven’t included e-commerce in your package yet make sure to ask us about how we can help you and make your business work for you.
